Why Ski Goggles are needed

Welcome to Ski Goggle Expert Website. This site is intended to inform the consumer about the different types of Ski Goggles on the market today as well as some tips that will get you to the correct Ski Goggles that are right for you. I will also be giving my Opinion as to what I consider be right for different categories of consumers as all people are different and have different needs when looking for Ski Goggles.

What is so important about Ski Goggles? Well if your a Skier or Snowboarder, you might have realized this question at some point depending on your experiences on or off the slopes. With my 40 years of Skiing evolution I think that this question needs to be answered. Its very simple to visualize, no punt intended, but the bottom line is that it’s a matter of life and death. Most people don’t realize this and think that Ski Goggles are just another piece of equipment that I might need for bad weather Skiing or Snowboarding. So I think that it’s so important that it needs to come out of the shadows and into the light for all to see.

But first your probably wondering who is this guy that wants to tell me what I need to know about Ski Goggles? So I’ll try to make this short but yet enough to show that I do have some authority on this subject.

As I just mentioned I’ve been skiing for over 40 years but It’s never been just a casual glide down the open slopes. Starting at age 7 skiing came naturally for me on the very first day. I enjoyed going very fast and at 12 was racing slolom, giant slolom and the downhill my favorite of the three. At 14 I won the the State Championships for my state in the age group of 13-16 years. The next season I moved to a dormatory High School in Lake Placid, New York site of two olympic venues last being in 1980. This was my base while racing in the Northeast United States considered to be the best Ice Skiing in the world compared to other parts. Since then I’ve skied in other parts of the world including many trips Helicopter Skiing the back country in the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia,Canada. I hope that was short for you.

What I would like to express at this site is what I can do for you to gather the information neccessary to make a great choice in the most Important piece of skiing or snowboarding equipment you could possibly buy because lets face it, if you can’t see whats ahead of you to make a reaction, all the other equipment that you bought is worthless. It all starts with your eyes and how you react to what is in front of you. Thats what is going to get you to your next day of adventure, so lets begin.

This site is going to be broken down so that you can select the catagory that fits the needs that you might have when it comes to Ski Goggles. This website will help you enjoy a safe Ski Season

Goggles for Snowboarders

Snowboarders sure have come along way. Snowboarding is now a major staple in Winter Sports and I think we all have to admit that this contribution to the Ski Areas have kept many mountains in business who were once struggling. So I want to tip my hat to the snowboarders that are out there and to the pioneers of years before. The same can be said for the new Snowboarding line of Gear and accessories. There are alot of new Products that have emerged and that includes the Snowboard line of goggles. New manufacturers on the scene for example SPY,DRAGON,ELECTRIC and ANON are mostly made for the snowboarder enthusiast. All have the great features and necesseties needed to enjoy a day on the slopes with the safety features built in mixed with the wild colors of the modern day Snowboarder. The polorized lens with the proper venalating and antifogging features are all in place in these new brands designed for the snowboarders. This being said I do want to pull out of the croud a couple Snowboard Goggles that I feel stands out from the rest even thou all the brands are very good. The first being the Dragon DX 2010 Snowboard Goggles - Strange Brew Frame / Red Ionized Lens for its design and long lasting capabilities as well as its air flow technology combined with the comfort of the snug fit. The other best buy is the ANON FIGMENT GOGGLES
which provide clarity in vision due to its injected molded lenses which are also scratch resistant and provided with antifog technology and a excellent ventalation system. Ski Goggles for Women

Not like many years ago,Ski Goggles are actually made just for women. I guess were not all the same after all. Its obvious that the shape of a women's face is different and that the days of the standardized Ski Goggle has become obsolete. The main producers of Ski Goggles are Smith and Oakley. They have come up with the best Women Ski Goggle products with the newer Ski Goggle producers not far behind. Smith has a wonderful top of the line women's ski goggle called the Smith Women's Anthem Spherical Snow Goggles. It has a facial fit that is perfect for the shape of the women's face. The fit for the smaller face is much more attractive for the women and yet the design of the Ski Goggle itself does not miss on the latest features that high tech Ski Goggles offer. The main features are the Smith regulator Adjustable lens as well as the dual-layer DriWix face foam that holds close to the skin contact areas. There is also the Carbonix-X lens with vaporator lens technology. these lenses can also be changed to fit whatever conditions you face on the mountain.
Oakley also has a Women's Ski Goggle line called the Stockholm. The Oakley Stockholm Snow Goggles - Women's - Jet Black/High Intensity Yellow Lens
also has a frame that is contoured to the features of a women's face. Some other features that the Oakley line has is the inner and outer lens feature with the inner lens having a antifog coating that prevents fog buildup as the lens absorbs up to 2ml.of water. The XYZ Optics also gives a wide side vision field as well as excellent downward vision and clarity at all angles that enhances detail and the contrast in flat or overcast light is increased which brings the visual light transmission to 62%. The triple layer polar fleece foam at face contact is very comfortable and also absorbs moisture. The Oakley A-Frame Grethen Bleiler Model is also a great womens Ski Goggle with the same features as previously mentioned. I must also give honerable mention to the newer product lines that are also a good buy. The Anon Majestic Womens Snow Goggles
and the Dragon DXS Goggle
are the multi colored frames that the younger woman skier or snowboarder might enjoy. They have alot of good features that are needed from comfort to visability.

Prescription Ski Goggles

The best selections of ski goggles and ski glasses by far can only be found at a great website. Its
FramesDirect.com If you use prescription glasses and you need them in order to ski or snowboard you have a few options that you can make before you make the actual purchase. The two basic options are if you want to have prescription inserts mounted inside the Ski Goggle or if you want your prescription lenses mounted into the actual frame of the goggles. This feature is offered by Smith Goggle product line. It's called the Panoptx Ski Goggle. It is not the traditional looking Ski Goggle but looks like a pair of sun glasses at a glance but are called Ski Goggles by Smith due to the eye cup feature behind the frame. I personally have used this eye cup design Ski goggle and love the fact that I can do high speed non stop top to bottom runs with a Ski Goggle that looks like a pair of sun glasses and yet my eyes will not water or dry out during my run due to too much wind wrapping around the frame like in traditional sun glasses when skiing fast. These Ski Goggles were great on perfect weather day.. and the eye cup comes out if you prefer for the traditional ski sunglasses look. I did notice thou that when i finished my high speed run that they would fog at the bottom on the lift line until I pulled the eye cup away from my face where some air could reach the inside lens when idle.

The Smith Goggle product line for prescription Ski Goggles I have to admit is the best and here is why. If you use glasses and you want Ski Goggles that fit over your glasses, you can get that in almost all Ski Goggle manufacturers. Scott Ski Goggles has the Insert Glasses Ski Goggles but they also have the traditional looking Ski Goggles that have prescription Ski Goggle Lenses that really can't be found anywhere else.

In the Scott Ski Goggles Product Line there is a traditional Ski Goggle that You can customize the Goggles Lens to your prescription. Its called the Scott Phenom and in its spherical series line you can get Ski Goggle lens custom made to your prescription. Go here to see the Designer Snow and Ski Goggles from Oakley, Smith, and others at low prices only at FramesDirect.com

Childrens Ski Goggles

When It comes to protecting our children, it seems that we can never do enough. I know I feel that way but maybe I'm over protective. Skiing and children is like combining a sweet and sour mix. You want them to ski but yet you don't want them to get hurt doing it. That's why Its double important to protect you child's eyes when skiing after all there eyes are still developing just like the rest of them. UVA and UVB sun rays are twice as effective to do harm to you children's eyes due to the reflection off the snow on sunny days . Its like looking up and staring at the sun, except your looking down trying to navigate where your going. Lets not forget the other points that Ski Goggles serve and that's object that you might hit when in the process of falling. As we all know even the experts fall its part of skiing , it always happens sooner or later. Protection from falling on their ski tip in a forward fall (My chin scar) or obstacles protruding through the snow or tree branches need I go on.

So I'm going to exploit some points that should be considered when buying your children ski goggles. First of all we have to consider the growing factor that they always are, and last years goggles might do the job that are intended to do so check before the season starts. Check to see that the Ski Goggles have a forming fit around there cheekbone and temple area where they will still have excellent peripheral side vision without having to twist their head to the side instead of watching where their going. When the Ski Goggles are form fitting around the eyes and nose , this will protect the eyes from wind and drying out the eyes. Don't forget to take the helmet out of the closet too.

When children are Skiing or Snowboarding they always come up and say that their Goggles are fogged yes even in today's world but technology is always evolving and still trying to eliminate this problem also. Good Ski and Snowboard Goggle manufacturers have developed over the years a double lens for children so that the outer lens remains cold and the inner lens is much warmer. With this separation and anti fogging lens coating with venting the fogging problem has practically disappeared.

Here is where you can get some quality Ski and Snowboard Goggles for your children from toddlers to teens at Baby Banz SKPI Ski Banz Pink
